Theme Cruises

While cruising is a popular way of spending a holiday, some potential passengers are put off by the idea of spending so much time on board the same ship with the same people. They worry that a cruise holiday could leave them feeling bored, trapped or isolated if they do not bond with fellow passengers or enjoy the type of on board entertainments on offer.

It was for these holidaymakers that cruise holiday operators came up with the idea of themed cruises. Theme cruises are a great way for the nervous traveller to ensure that they will be amongst friends for the duration of their journey, and will be offered activities and entertainments that cater to their preferences and passions.

Theme cruises come in a number of styles – from lifestyle cruises aimed at groups such as the gay and lesbian community, nudists or senior citizens – to the fan-focussed theme cruises bringing together people who are all passionate about the same person or thing – for example Elvis or artwork.

Many of the big cruise operators offer theme cruises; Royal Caribbean recently ran a murder mystery cruise and a wedding vow renewal cruise and P&0 Cruises offers a range of comedy mini cruises.

Theme cruises sail to many of the same popular destinations as their regular counterparts, allowing guest to enjoy such popular itineraries as a Baltic cruise, Far East cruise or Red Sea cruise while in the company of likeminded passengers.
There are a number of charter type cruises offered by operators catering to the niche markets, from chocolate lovers to poker players. There is undoubtedly a cruise out there to suit your style and interests.
