Skiing holidays in Araches and Aussois

Also known as Les Carroz d’Araches, this area has 265 kilometres of pistes; so it’s great for ski holidays.  There are however no cross country runs; 72 lifts serve the slopes. The area has 38 drag lifts, 28 chair lifts, and six cable cars. North of Mont Blanc this area encompasses the whole mountain.  The area can be reached by train or plane; there are two airports under 75 kilometres from the region at Annecy and Geneva.

The town has several bars, disco clubs, and restaurants. Most runs are for beginners and intermediate skiers, and there’s a snow park and also a children’s park. People can also enjoy snowboarding, and take lessons in snowboarding if necessary. You can also take a dog sled ride or ride quad bikes on the ice during your ski holidays if you wish.

Another excellent location for ski holidays is Aussois in the Maurienne Valley area of Savoyard, very close to the Italian border. This is a great resort for snowboarding, and beginners and intermediate skiers; it has nine green runs, four blue, eight red, and two black. Access is from 11 ski lifts, and there are 50 kilometres of downhill pistes and 35 of cross country trails. The region has snowmakers to keep the slopes covered.

There are five airports less than two hours from the area – the two main ones are at Geneva and Chambery. The TGV railway station is just 10 minutes from the town. Eight hotels are in the area and provide good accommodation. An ancient castle has been converted into a gourmet restaurant.

Whilst on your ski holidays at Aussois you can also try a wildlife snowshoe safari, ice climbing, and paragliding.
