Saying ‘I Do’ at Sea

The beautiful open sea, exotic location and chance to spend a week away with your closest friends and family are just some of the wonderful reasons for having a wedding on a cruise ship.

Imagine you and your beloved aboard a beautiful ship, sailing on storied waters between the Greek Islands. The wedding takes place on the upper deck at dusk, with soft music playing in the background. You and your beloved exchange vows you wrote yourselves and then the ship’s Captain, an old, old man with a gruff voice and a heart of gold, pronounces you husband and wife. You dance beneath the stars until dinner’s announced, and finally retire to your special suite, designed for just such a night.

It all sounds wonderful, and the best part is that this could be your wedding. Some cruise ships allow you to marry at sea and others have the option for people to marry once they are on shore.

If you decide to have your wedding on a cruise ship, make sure that you give them plenty of notice so that they can help accommodate you and your guests. A last minute cruise is not really a good idea for a wedding. Costa Cruises gives you the option to choose between a Caribbean style wedding with a tropical bridal bouquet and Caribbean music or an Italian style wedding with an Italian vanilla sponge wedding cake for two. There are also honeymoon and anniversary packages that you can take advantage of.

Pour all the romance of a cruise into your special day. Carry your tissues, all your love and a supply of paper bags for sea-sickness. Saying ‘I do” at sea is a creative way to mark the next passage in the story of your life.
