Port of call in Naples

Considered to be one of the oldest cities in the world, initially established in the eighth century B.C. as a Greek colony, Naples is one of the most popular destinations in Italy, known around the world for its rich history, art and cuisine, and especially for its culture and architecture. Located along the Gulf of Naples between the Phlegraean Fields and Mount Vesuvius, Naples is one of the most visited cities in the whole of Italy, and whether travellers are staying for just a day or for months at a time, there is enough history and culture to keep a person busy for years.

Naples is one of the main port of call for many Mediterranean cruises, with ships docking at Stazione Marittima, which is a major terminal located next to the heart of the city, close to the Piazza Municipio.  The only problem travellers might have with Naples as a port of call is the simple fact that there is so much to see and do here that it is literally impossible to take it all in during one cruise stop. Many travellers choose to come back to the city after they have finished with their various cruises, content to explore the art and history of the city, and take in the art and cuisine. Just bear in mind that regardless of when you come to Naples, you will want to stick to public transportation or go by foot, because traffic is chaotic.
