Moscow attractions and tourist guide

Flights to Moscow take travellers to one of the world’s great cities—with such expansive size and compelling sights it can be difficult to choose a starting point for your exploration.

The massive Gorky Park is where locals go to unwind and relax.  This is the original Russian park, with some education and some ornamentation with a little bit of amusement park thrown in for good measure.  This is a great place to escape the noise and bustle of the city for a few hours.

The Durov Animal Theatre is geared toward younger travellers and features dogs, cats, and farm animals performing a variety of shows and tricks.

The Kuklachev Cats Theatre is another animal theatre that features a spirited group of felines performing amazing feats.  They walk tightropes, dance, balance things on their noses, dance, leap from on high, and negotiate complicated mazes.  This is a spectacular show for all ages.

At the Moscow Zoo, lucky travellers on flights to Moscow can see the big cats, huge flocks of birds, Siberian tigers and more, all within the precincts of this large and well-kept zoo.

The Sandunovskiye Baths, located in Moscow’s city centre, is the city’s most famous bathhouse.  The elegant 19th century structure is part sauna, part social club.  The sexes are strictly separated.  Wander through the various steam rooms and pools, enjoy a massage, and spend a leisurely afternoon being pampered.

Most visitors will want to see Red Square and to visit Lenin’s tomb.  You can’t miss this building as it is like a large box in the middle of the square.  Security is tight and you are not allowed to take anything inside the building.

If you like sport, football is as popular in Moscow as in any other European country and Dinamo Stadium is a common destination for many visitors.  Match day tickets are usually not hard to come by should you decide to take in a match at the last minute.
