Luxury Cruising – What to Look For

While most cruise liners will claim to offer the height of luxury, not every cruise holiday can truly lay claim to the title.

Luxury Cruising is in fact an exclusive niche of the larger cruise market, but one that offers a truly exceptional experience and which is worth consideration when looking for a cruise deal.

While many travel agents will market every cruise as “luxury” certain features really qualify a cruise as such, enhancing the experience for all onboard. Luxury cruises are usually all inclusive cruises. On a luxury cruise passengers can expect all meals, alcoholic drinks and tips to be included in the price.

Likewise, the price paid for a true luxury cruise will often include certain shore excursions, meaning passengers do not have to pay out a second time to experience the delights of their cruise destinations.

Luxury cruises offer a real feeling of silver service throughout the ship. Luxury cruise customers can expect to be addressed by name by the staff on the front desk, state room stewards and the Maitre d’ of the dining room. This is in part because luxury cruises tend to carry fewer passengers, allowing for the fostering of an intimate onboard atmosphere as well as less crowding in public areas.

Luxury cruises often take place on board smaller ships, which means access to more ports than is possible for super liners; for example on a Baltic Cruise luxury passengers on a smaller ship can expect to dock close to the city centres of Stockholm in Sweden and St Petersburg in Russia, limiting tedious transfer times.
