Golfing on a Cruise

The thought of playing a round of golf in the middle of the ocean may seem a bit off the mark, but on the more up to date cruise ships, golfing facilities have become the latest trend. As well as miniature courses and golf simulators, some of the larger vessels even have a driving range on board. What’s more, many cruise and stay holidays will often include a real course or two and will be perfect for any golfing enthusiast.

For anyone planning a golf themed cruise, there is a wealth of options to choose from. On some voyages, professional golfers are brought on board. Without doubt, Caribbean Cruises offer some of the most highly sought after golfing holidays and boast a stunning range of courses in places like Grand Cayman, St Thomas and the Dominican Republic. Elsewhere the Red Sea and Far East cruises are enjoying an upsurge in popularity of the sport and should also be considered for a golfing cruise.

Costa Cruises are one of the main lines offering golf themed breaks on their Caribbean and Mediterranean cruises. Another option to consider is P&O, who organise golfing breaks in a variety of destinations. If you are part of a large group, you can sometimes choose the course at each port of call. The ship’s crew will look after everything, from transport on shore to club rental, but guests are reminded to pack their own golf shoes.
