Expedition Cruising

Expedition cruising offers a far different experience than regular cruise holidays. Not only will you will have the luxury of the ship, but things will also become quite intense when you start to discover wild adventures in different destinations. There is nothing like an expedition cruise holiday to get in touch with nature and explore different corners of the world. There are some really exciting itineraries on offer from most of the major cruise companies.

A big hit with adventure cruisers is the stunning landscape of Alaska, where thrill seekers take in such activities as kayaking and white-water rafting on the many vibrant rivers. The beautifully unspoilt and captivating landscape of this country is sure to impress and you should be prepared to take plenty of photographs. The Alaska season usually runs between the beginning of May to the end of August.

Should Alaska not be cold enough for you, there is also the option of an Antarctic cruise holiday. This might not seem like the most inviting place on earth to spend your vacation, but any lovers of nature, landscape and sea life could hardly pick a better destination. As well as the captivating ice formations along the coast it is the ideal place for spotting blue whales and other marine life. The Antarctica cruise season runs from November to February, when the Southern Hemisphere has its summer.

A slightly more temperate destination, which offers a wealth of adventure, is the Galapagos Islands, off the coast of Argentina. The diverse nature and wildlife of these remote islands was a huge inspiration for Charles Darwin’s works on evolution. As they lie close to the equator, any time of the year is a good time to travel.
