Alpine ski touring

If you are a competent skier and fancy something that is that little bit different, why not try an Alpine touring holiday. With modern Alpine or Telemark touring equipment, you can travel almost anywhere on snow. When going uphill, you use ‘skins’, which stick to the bottom of your skis and stop you sliding back. Going downhill is hopefully a series of beautiful turns! Alpine skis can be released at the heel for walking upwards, but clip down for the descent. Telemark skiers have a free heel the whole time.

Your ski holiday specialist arranges a several ski tours every year, you can discuss the itinerary with them, but these take place typically in the Alps, Pyrenees or North America. These are usually based in pensions in the valley or catered Alpine huts, many return year upon year and find the experience great camaraderie and fun.
